Welcome to The Space Coast Chapter of
The Compassionate Friends
The Space Coast Chapter of The Compassionate Friends supports grieving families who have lost a child at any age. We serve bereaved families through meetings and events in Brevard County, Florida. We serve grieving families in Melbourne, Merritt Island, Titusville, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne Beach, Palm Bay, Rockledge, Satellite Beach, Indialantic, Cape Canaveral, Palm Shores, Grant-Valkaria and beyond. You are welcome to attend meetings and events regardless of the county or city you live in.
You Are Not Alone
When your child has died, suddenly it seems like all meaning has been drained from your life. When you wake in the morning, it’s difficult to get out of bed, much less live a “normal” life. All that was right with the world now seems wrong and you’re wondering when, or if, you’ll ever feel better.
We’ve been there ourselves and understand some of the pain you are feeling right now. We are truly glad that you have found us, but profoundly saddened by the reason. We know that you are trying to find your way in a bewildering experience for which no one can truly be prepared.
Notes from our Space Coast Chapter Leader
Holidays are over and 2019 is here. I hate to repeat myself, but where does the time go?
Last year was a great year for me. I put into perspective so many things that had gotten askew over the past years. I’m excited about 2019—new is always good!
Our daughter Amanda was always very positive about her future … and what I mean is that she knew what was happening to her, and where she was going. Very rarely did she cry and complain about her situation. She knew she was dying, and she knew where she was going. I got so much strength from her, I only hope I gave her some comfort.
Do you ever have moments where suddenly something you have pondered over and over suddenly becomes very clear? An Aha moment. I had one the other day as I was riding back from Melbourne to Harmony. More in a minute.
